P.E.R.K. Consulting Awards Morgan State University Junior with NextGen Scholarship

BELTSVILLE, MD – September 21, 2015 – Beltsville-based advisory firm, P.E.R.K. Consulting, is proud to announce Carisse Lansiquot as the recipient of the 2015 NextGen Scholarship. The NextGen Scholarship fund is awarded annually to a deserving international or non-citizen student striving to obtain higher education. Carisse Lansiquot, a transfer student at Morgan State University, is the second recipient of this premier local scholarship.

During her time in college, P.E.R.K. Consulting president, Andrena Sawyer, witnessed the lack of resources available to international students. Ms. Sawyer was troubled that many deserving students lacked access to good opportunities because of their international student status, so she created an opportunity via the scholarship fund. Applicants this year hailed from 24 countries on five continents, including North America, South America, Asia, Africa and Europe.

Lansiquot, a junior at Morgan State University, thoroughly impressed the scholarship panel with her academic merit, leadership qualities, and community service. Lansiquot’s family is from Saint Lucia, and she credits her work ethic to her mother who frequently tells her “that hard work accompanied by faith…pays off.” She is a Chemistry major with a 4.0 GPA. She serves as an Alumni Director of the Delta Gamma chapter of the Tau Sigma Honor Society. She is also music lover who plays the steel drum and has won two Panorama competitions. Among other things, Lansiquot is a role model to all young women who are and who wish to pursue STEM degrees. This year, Lansiquot will be honored for her achievement during P.E.R.K. Consulting’s annual Embracing YOU Women’s Conference on October 3, 2015.

The NextGen Scholarship is a local scholarship program for international and non-citizen students residing in or attending a college in the Washington metropolitan. Qualifying applicants must be college-accepted high school seniors or current undergraduate students attending a two-year or four-year college. Applications are available in the spring and recipients are notified during the summer.
